The Ten-in-Ten Un-Convention-al Tours

This year, the ISDVMA is offering free Un-Convention-al tours around Canal Park for spouses, significant others, children, in-laws, out-laws, and vet groupies who will not be attending the biennial meeting with their veterinary partners.  The ISDVMA is providing an individual tour guide familiar with the amenities and opportunities of Canal Park to lead non-convention attendees on a separate one-day shopping extravaganza and a one-day museum tour.  Participants will gather in the lobby of the Inn on Lake Superior on Saturday and Sunday mornings.  Each day’s itinerary will be decided shortly before departure, depending on Duluth Harbor’s shipping schedule.

The Shopping Tour Day will include visits to the Sivertson Gallery, Duluth Pack, the many diverse shops of DeWitt-Seitz Marketplace, the Blue Lake Gallery, and Father Time Antiques.  Lunch will be at the Lake Avenue Café.  All shopping and dining costs will be paid for by the individual participants.

The Museum Tour Day will include visits to the William A. Irvin Ore Boat Museum in dry dock, the Great Lakes Aquarium, the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center, and the Arial Lift Bridge.  The tour route and schedule will be modified as you go to ensure that participants will be at the Lift Bridge when a giant ship passes under.  However, it is possible that no shipping will be scheduled for that day.  Participants will be notified ahead of time.  Lunch will be at Grandma’s Saloon and Grill next to the Lift Bridge and Museum.  All entrance fees and food will be paid for individually by the participants.

To insure that there will be space available at the museums and restaurants, you will need to sign up for the tours with your convention registration.  However, there is no fee associated with these offerings, no penalties for withdrawing, and participants are not required to stay with the group if they wish to strike out on their own.  Canal Park is not that large and participants won’t get lost.  Pre-registration is merely to insure that there is enough space available ahead of time to reserve space.

With these additional free tours, there is no reason not to bring your loved ones to Duluth.  They won’t be bored and you’ll be a star.
